Phuket, city with many sides.
Updated: Jul 28, 2022

When you think of Phuket, most people think of the sun, sea, partying, go go dancers and drinking. That's right, but there's more, much more.

As mentioned, Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. If you want to travel from the south to the north by taxi, it will take you an hour. About 500,000 people live on Phuket, about a quarter of whom are foreign. No wonder there are many bars, restaurants and homestays set up by foreigners in Phuket.

Phuket is also famous because of the beautiful beaches, Big Budha, sightseeing tours, waterfalls, boat excursions and many more. We stayed in Patong the first night. Patong has a nice beach, some big malls and many kinds of restaurants. But what it is mainly known for is the nightlife. Bars, pubs and gogo bars are the highlight of Bangla street. You can't believe your eyes here, but personally we also liked being able to escape this place after a few days.

After that we went to the Old City of Phuket, 3 days is long enough. Old Phuket Town is not a big area, and can be explored easily on foot. We pretty much walked around everywhere during our stay here. We recommend walking down Thalang Road, Phangnga Road and Soi Romanee for a beautiful photo walk opportunity. There are plenty of second-hand books, street art, traditional ceramics shops, Batik shops, Locally-made jewelry etc. It's also nice to walk there in the evening. There are a lot of nice bars and the streets look nice in the evening. So don't skip the Old Town.
